Technical Field Trip Organized within the Scope of ENV311 and ENV315 Courses

Our students visited the Tahtalı Dam Intake Structure and the Görece Drinking Water Treatment Plant within the scope of Water Supply ve Unit Operations and Processes of Water Treatment Courses.

They observed how water is supplied from different depths and how high-capacity pumps transfer raw water to the treatment system.

At the plant, they examined aeration, rapid mixing, flocculation, clarifiers, and filtration. They also learned about chlorination, SCADA monitoring, and sludge management used to produce safe drinking water for İzmir.

Reservoir levels are decreasing, and water scarcity is becoming a serious challenge. We train young engineers to develop sustainable and climate-resilient water systems for the future.

We thank Prof. Dr. Orhan Gündüz and our research assistants Ahmet Bedirhan Işık, Tahir Burak BİNKANAT and Gönenç Ozarlı for leading this valuable technical visit.
