Our faculty member, Prof. Dr. Orhan Gündüz, and our research assistant, Yiğithan Kazancı, presented their research titled “The Effect of River Microplastic Pollution on Groundwater: Gediz River Basin Case Study” at the Sustain Istanbul 2024 conference, held at Boğaziçi Üniversitesi.

Their study, co-authored with Prof. Dr. Neval Baycan (Dokuz Eylül University) and Nefise Alyürük (Dokuz Eylül University), sheds light on the critical issue of microplastic contamination in river systems and its potential impact on groundwater resources, with a specific focus on the Gediz River Basin.
